Many local residents are extremely concerned about plans for a new 400-home development at Hendy Quarry in Miskin.
This comes soon after an application for nearly 500 new houses was approved by RCT Council just a short distance away at Cefn Yr Hendy.

Steven Rajam is a Pontyclun resident, and your Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate for Pontypridd constituency at the 2021 Senedd elections. Steven said:
“Our schools, doctors’ surgeries and transport infrastructure can’t cope with nearly 1000 new homes along the A4119. We need to protect the green field sites we have.
“I strongly oppose these proposals, and call on RCT council to reject this new development. But simply saying “NO” is too easy.
"Young people need homes. I want the next generation to be able to live affordably in this area. It’s vital for the future of our village.
“I urge RCT council instead to begin a proper consultation with local residents regarding how we develop as a community.
"This is so that all of us - not just politicians and planners - can have a say in this area’s future.”

I/we, the undersigned, call on RCT Council to pause new development - and begin a housing strategy consultation with local residents, so that ALL of us can have a say in this area’s future.
