Robert Butler

Hi, my name’s Robert and I'm our new Treasurer for 2024, though this is not actually a "new" role for me.......... I was previously Treasurer in 2021, prior to standing for, and being elected as, Chair during 2022 and 2023.

Though I was born in Hemel Hempstead, England, I have lived here, in the Rhondda, since 2016 – prior to this, my wife and I lived in Spain for twelve years, following my decision to retire early in 2004.

I've been a member of the Liberal Democrats since 2019 and I joined because I truly believe our U.K. politics was, and still is, in desperate need of reform and with values such as honesty, integrity and equality at their core, I believe the Liberal Democrats are the only party who can achieve this. I also believe that, here in Wales, we need to provide a decent, honest alternative to the corrupt politics of the Tories, and a viable alternative to Plaid Cymru and Labour.

Aside from Liberal Democrat activities, I enjoy walking, reading and, when the weather allows, abseiling!
