Save the Pontypridd HSBC

Welsh Lib Dem Senedd candidate for Pontypridd Steven Rajam and regional candidate for South Wales Central Rodney Berman are calling on HSBC to keep its branch on Taff Street in Pontypridd open.

Following the recent announcement that HSBC intend to close 82 branches across the United Kingdom, including sites in both Pontypridd and Talbot Green, Steven has already contacted the bank to ask them to reverse this decision.

Steven said: “This is a terrible news for Pontypridd residents. Pontypridd's businesses are already coping with the crippling effects of the pandemic and the floods in early 2020. This is another huge blow to the life of our precious town centre.

"The HSBC bank is a vital lifeline for many of our local businesses and elderly residents, some of whom aren’t able to do online banking. And with many public-access facilities currently closed due to the pandemic, it's harder than ever for those in socioeconomic hardship to do their banking digitally".

Rodney added: "It's crucial that the most vulnerable communities, and those in need, should be able to access services and do their banking in person."

If you want to help Steven, Rodney and the RCT Lib Dem team in their campaign to save the HSBC bank in Pontypridd just sign our petition below.

I oppose the closing of the HSBC bank in Pontypridd, as it provides a crucial service for many residents and businesses who otherwise will find it difficult to access banking facilities.
