Trenos Crossing

RCT Liberal Democrats are alarmed to hear that, despite costing a massive £5.1 million, the ramps on the new bridge at Trenos are not “access for all” compliant! Community Councillor Neil Feist was only made aware of this shocking news recently.

A clarification by Network Rail stated that "The ramps are compliant Bridleway ramps and are not access for all compliant".

In an email sent out by Neil he said that "Trenos has had a massive amount of public money spent on it and I am very concerned that it will not be access for all compliant". He fully intends to continue on the working group and committee for Trenos and Ewenny in order to find a way forward.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council - council tax increases

Another round of above inflation Council Tax rises for residents by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council with a massive 4.7% increase!

In the Llanharan area - Llanharan Community Council have increased their bit of the tax by an eye watering 6%!

RCT Liberal Democrat Neil Feist, Community Councillor for Llanharan ward, was the only councillor to vote against this increase for local people.

With cuts to the winter fuel allowance for pensioners and hard working families trying to make ends meet - these increases are simply not right.

It's bad for residents and it’s bad for the local economy too.

And yet, despite Council Tax increases, services have decreased………

Voicing concerns and frustrations from a number of local residents in the Llanharan area, Community Councillor Neil Feist said “We have a real issue with overflowing public litter bins and general rubbish in the area. Our Council Tax has gone up again and yet things are getting much worse. It’s a great place to live but this issue needs to be addressed”.

RCT Liberal Democrats are calling on Rhondda Cynon Taff Borough Council to guarantee that litter and dog waste bins are emptied a lot more often.

Llanharan bypass

On June the 25th Labour Councillor Andrew Morgan reiterated that the Llanharan bypass is a priority and the council is confident work will start in earnest - once it gets planning permission and a contractor is appointed.

In response, Rhondda Cynon Taff Liberal Democrats have said “We are concerned that this is another example of political posturing by Labour with a Senedd election on the horizon in May 2026”.

The Llanharan bypass has not been a priority thus far for Labour.

Neil Feist, Liberal Democrat Community Councillor for Llanharan ward, and RCT LibDems have been keeping up the pressure and seek a cast iron guarantee that this project will be delivered and be fit for purpose.

Residents deserve better.
